| Welcome to Truthing.net, a production of Monsoon Press.
We consider author Jon Read’s book, Truthing, essential reading on the subjects of deception and honesty. When Jon first approached us with the subject for the book he noted that our culture has no single active-verb for being honest. We checked. He was right.
But there was one exception. As best we can tell, the word “truthing” has emerged over the last decade as an applied technical term to describe the demand for on-the-ground verification of satellite imagery. For instance, if a satellite digitally imaged snow fall in the Sahara, scientists would then confirm the anomaly by vehicle or on foot. Hence the emergence of the term: ground truthing – or, more simply, truthing.
Here, the author Jon Read uses the term to describe the critical need for on-the-ground verification of political, personal, and social realities. We’d like to see the word enter into the national lexicon. Truth, truthing, to truth, v. 1) to speak honestly without artifice towards, or the rationalization of, deception. We encourage you to read author Jon Read’s books here on-site or to order directly from Monsoon Press. We hope Truthing enters favorably into the national dialog on government, business, and personal accountability.
